Why do some referees wear purple shirts?

Modified on Tue, 22 Nov 2022 at 03:20 PM

In January 2019 Cambs FA announced that all referees under the age of 18 officiating on the Cambridge & District Colts League would be given the opportunity to wear a purple referee shirt during matches if they wished. The idea of this initiative is to give a visual aid to clubs, managers, players, parents and spectators that the referee is under 18.
